This is something I built together with two people who share the same vision: Luisa Donati and Caterina Dini

The three of us founded LuMaCa srls. The name comes from our initials — Luisa, Marco, Caterina — but it also recalls the Italian word for snail (lumaca), a symbol of slowness, resilience and conscious movement.
That dual meaning perfectly represents how this project was born: personal, intentional, and deeply connected to territory.

We wanted to create a system capable of regenerating small villages through hospitality — restoring houses, activating local economies, designing experiences that feel authentic rather than staged.

Borgo Metauro translates our philosophy into place.

We believe that small Italian villages have an incredible cultural and economic potential, but they need new models of hospitality to survive. Many historic homes are at risk of abandonment, and traditional businesses struggle to compete with modern tourism hubs.

Borgo Metauro provides a solution by offering property owners the chance to join a structured network, with a professional team handling marketing, guest management, and experience curation.
This allows them to rent out their homes without the stress of managing a hospitality business on their own.
At the same time, travellers benefit from a high-quality stay in an immersive and well-organised setting, with the comfort of a hotel and the charm of a traditional village.
Borgo Metauro unfolds along the valley of the Metauro River, a waterway that shapes the landscape and history of this region.

The identity shifts toward landscape, architecture and belonging.
It evokes diffused hospitality, restored homes, and a human-scale experience of travel.

Our carefully curated accommodations offer a seamless blend of history, comfort, and authenticity.

Located in the picturesque villages of Borgo Pace and Mercatello sul Metauro – and their surroundings – each home has been restored with attention to detail, preserving its original charm while ensuring modern amenities.
